University of Arkansas at Monticello

Nestled in Southern Arkansas, the University of Arkansas at Monticello (UAM) stands as a dynamic public university, deeply rooted in its commitment to regional development. Since its inception, UAM has evolved into a comprehensive institution, known for seamlessly blending traditional academic excellence with vital vocational and technical education. UAM's journey began in 1910 as the Fourth District Agricultural School, established to meet the educational demands of Southern Arkansas. Its history is marked by significant milestones, including its renaming to Arkansas A&M College in 1925 and a pivotal integration into the University of Arkansas System in 1971. The university's academic prowess grew steadily, earning accreditation as a junior college by 1928 and a four-year institution by 1940. More recently, in 2018, the strategic merger of its Schools of Agriculture and Forestry and Natural Resources created a powerhouse in the School of Forestry, Agriculture, and Natural Resources, underscoring its enduring leadership in these critical fields and preparing students for impactful careers.
