The University of Louisiana at Monroe (ULM) is a dynamic public university nestled in Monroe, Louisiana, dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge under its inspiring motto, "Seek the Truth." ULM's journey began in 1931 as Ouachita Parish Junior College, embarking on a remarkable path of growth. Over the decades, it transformed through several significant phases, including becoming part of the Louisiana State University system and then an autonomous four-year institution, Northeast Louisiana State College. By 1969, its academic prowess was recognized with university status, enabling it to grant doctoral degrees. A pivotal moment in 1999 saw its renaming to the University of Louisiana at Monroe, solidifying its identity within the state's higher education landscape.
