Nestled in the vibrant Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex, the University of North Texas (UNT) stands as a prominent public research university and the flagship institution of the University of North Texas System. With a sprawling main campus in Denton and a dynamic satellite campus in Frisco, UNT proudly holds the distinction of being classified as an "R1: Doctoral University – Very high research spending and doctorate production" by the Carnegie system, the highest designation available for U.S. research institutions. Founded in 1890 as the Texas Normal College and Teacher Training Institute, UNT has a rich history of evolution and growth. Over the decades, it transformed from a teacher's college into a comprehensive university, officially becoming the University of North Texas in 1988.
