Urshan Graduate School of Theology

Urshan Graduate School of Theology (UGST), founded in 2001, stands as a pivotal institution dedicated to theological education rooted in the Oneness Pentecostal tradition. Named in honor of Andrew Urshan, whose visionary teachings were passed down through his son Nathaniel, UGST embodies a rich legacy within the United Pentecostal Church International (UPCI). It was established with the express purpose of nurturing future leaders and scholars within this specific theological framework, reflecting the deep commitment of the UPCI to rigorous academic and spiritual formation.

The journey to establishing UGST began in 1998 with an ad hoc committee, culminating in a decisive vote by the UPCI General Conference in 1999 to bring this vision to life. David Bernard was appointed as its first president in 2000, and the school officially opened its doors in 2001, installing a dedicated founding faculty. A significant milestone occurred in 2010 when UGST achieved full accreditation from the Association of Theological Schools (ATS), a testament to its academic rigor and quality.

The institution further expanded its educational scope in 2011 by acquiring Gateway College of Evangelism, leading to the creation of Urshan College. This strategic move allowed Urshan University to offer Bachelor of Arts degrees across several majors, beyond its initial graduate-level theological programs. As a unified institution under the ownership and operation of the UPCI, Urshan continues its mission to provide a comprehensive educational experience deeply rooted in its Oneness Pentecostal identity, preparing students for impactful service and leadership in a diverse range of ministries and professions.
