Vance-Granville Community College

Vance-Granville Community College stands as a vital educational cornerstone for four North Carolina counties—Vance, Granville, Franklin, and Warren. Renowned as a key player in regional economic development, VGCC is dedicated to providing citizens with better opportunities to learn, train for meaningful employment, and achieve their academic and professional aspirations. Its comprehensive offerings ensure that students are well-prepared for both direct entry into the workforce and seamless transfer to four-year institutions.

The college's journey began in humble yet ambitious circumstances, evolving from a technical institute established in 1968 into an officially recognized school by the General Assembly on July 1, 1969. Initially housed in a renovated hospital, VGCC's growth accelerated with a pivotal $2 million bond referendum in 1972, leading to the construction of its expansive 83-acre main campus, which opened its doors in 1976. This significant expansion, coupled with the introduction of college-transfer programs, solidified its role as a comprehensive community college serving an ever-growing student body.

Today, VGCC boasts a robust academic portfolio featuring over 35 curriculum programs, complemented by extensive offerings in extension, economic development, continuing education, and small business classes. The main campus, picturesque with a lake and modern facilities including a student services complex, civic center, and daycare, is supported by three strategically located satellite campuses in Granville, Warren, and Franklin counties. These campuses, some with Early College high schools, are equipped with state-of-the-art classrooms, shops, and labs, collectively providing a dynamic and accessible learning environment designed to foster student success and meet the diverse educational needs of the surrounding communities.
