Wabash Valley College

Wabash Valley College stands as a vital public community college, deeply rooted in its local community. Since its independent founding in 1960, WVC has been dedicated to providing accessible and high-quality educational opportunities, serving as a gateway for students pursuing academic transfer, career training, and personal enrichment. Under the leadership of President Dr. Matt Fowler, the college fosters an environment where students can thrive, build essential skills, and prepare for their futures.

The college's journey began with a strong local initiative, established independently by the community school district. This spirit of community support continued as Wabash Valley College played a pivotal role in forming the Illinois Eastern Community Colleges (IECC) district. In 1969, it partnered with Olney Central College, a collaboration that quickly expanded to include Lincoln Trail College in the same year. This strategic consolidation was a landmark moment, securing resources for permanent campuses and strengthening educational offerings across the region.

The commitment to expanding educational access was underscored by the approval of a significant $5.9 million bond issue in October 1969, which funded state-of-the-art facilities for each of the three colleges. The district further grew in 1978 with the addition of Frontier Community College, solidifying IECC as a robust four-college system. Wabash Valley College, as a key member of this district, is known for its practical, student-centered approach, providing a strong foundation for diverse academic and career aspirations within a supportive and engaging campus community.
