It officially opened its doors on October 7, 1963, welcoming 304 pioneering students with an initial offering of 34 curriculum study programs and a robust 270 industrial training programs. This foundational commitment to practical education has been a hallmark of Wake Tech's mission. Over the decades, the institution evolved, adopting various names like the W. W. Holding Technical Institute, Wake Technical Institute, and Wake Technical College, reflecting its expanding scope and impact within the community.
