Walden University, established in 1970 by Bernie and Rita Turner, carved a unique niche in higher education by offering doctoral degrees to working adults. However, its history also includes scrutiny regarding student loan debt, with some former students raising concerns about prolonged enrollments and associated costs, leading to class-action lawsuits.
