Wayne County Schools Career Center (WCSCC) stands as a beacon of career-focused education, a public vocational high school dedicated to equipping students with the skills and knowledge needed for success in a rapidly evolving workforce. Far from a traditional high school, WCSCC is a dynamic learning environment where practical application meets academic rigor, preparing both high schoolers and adult learners for immediate entry into rewarding careers or further education.

Its journey began in 1969 as the Wayne County Joint Vocational School, an innovative institution that launched with 22 programs and welcomed 490 ambitious students. Strategically situated in Smithville for easy access across the county, the center quickly became a cornerstone of educational opportunity. By 1984, reflecting an expansion of its offerings and an evolving mission, the school proudly adopted its current name, Wayne County Schools Career Center, marking a new chapter in its commitment to vocational excellence.

Today, WCSCC continues its legacy of growth and impact, offering an impressive array of 26 career-technical programs alongside 18 academic classes for its approximately 750 high school students. Beyond its vibrant high school programs, WCSCC also houses a robust Adult Education division, serving over 3,000 adult learners. This comprehensive approach ensures that WCSCC remains a vital resource for career development and lifelong learning, fostering a skilled workforce and empowering individuals across Wayne County to achieve their professional aspirations.
