About West Shore Community College

West Shore Community College: Where students come first, empowering futures with dynamic learning.

West Shore Community College stands as a beacon of learning in Michigan, living up to its motto: "Where students come first!" Established in 1967, this public community college has been dedicated to fostering academic and personal growth, initially serving students from three adjacent counties. With a current enrollment of nearly 1,200 students, WSCC provides a supportive and engaging environment for those pursuing degrees, certificates, or transfer opportunities.

From its humble beginnings, offering evening courses at local high schools and holding classes in relocatable classrooms, West Shore Community College has experienced remarkable growth. Its first permanent structure, the Campus Center (now the Administrative Building), was dedicated in 1970. This laid the foundation for decades of expansion, including the addition of an 18,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art science wing and a 36,000 sq. ft. ice arena in 2002. The college's commitment to modern facilities ensures students have access to top-tier resources.

WSCC's dedication to its community is further exemplified by the opening of the Manistee County Education Center in 2006, a partnership with West Shore Medical Center, extending its reach and resources. The 38,000 sq. ft. Schoenherr Campus Center, opened in 2008, serves as a hub for student life and activities, reinforcing the college's student-centered approach. With a rich history of leadership and continuous development, West Shore Community College remains a vital institution, preparing students for successful futures.
