Western Connecticut State University (WCSU), affectionately known as WestConn, stands as a vibrant public university in Danbury, Connecticut, a proud member of the Connecticut State University System. From its roots as a teacher's college, WCSU has blossomed into a comprehensive institution, home to the Ancell School of Business, the Macricostas School of Arts and Sciences, the School of Professional Studies, and the School of Visual and Performing Arts. It's particularly recognized for its unique partnership with the Jane Goodall Institute, hosting the Jane Goodall Center for Excellence in Environmental Studies, and for the acclaimed Ives Concert Park on its Westside campus, a premier performance venue.

Established in 1903 as the "Danbury State Normal School" to train teachers, WCSU has undergone several transformations, steadily expanding its academic scope. Today, it offers an impressive array of 38 bachelor's and one associate degree programs, 15 master's degree programs, and two doctoral programs, all rigorously accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE).
