Western Iowa Tech Community College

Western Iowa Tech Community College (WITCC) has been a cornerstone of education in Western Iowa since its founding in 1966. Accredited in 1977, WITCC is dedicated to providing practical, career-focused learning experiences that prepare students for success. The college recently expanded its offerings to include vibrant athletic programs and competitive esports, aiming to keep local talent within the community.

WITCC stands out with programs like its highly successful culinary arts, which launched in 2015 and boasted 100% job placement for its inaugural 2016 graduating class. The Mass Communication program also provides unparalleled hands-on experience through its student-operated low-power FM radio station, KWSR-LP 94.3 FM, established in 2025, offering students real-world broadcasting and media operations skills.

Beyond academics, students can engage in NJCAA Division II sports such as men's basketball, women's volleyball, men's and women's soccer, and competitive cheer, or dive into the growing world of esports. While the college faced challenges with its former J-1 Visa program, leading to lawsuits which were settled without admission of wrongdoing, WITCC has reaffirmed its commitment to student welfare and has since discontinued the program, focusing on robust and supportive educational pathways for all.
