The Won Institute of Graduate Studies stands as a distinctive private graduate school, dedicated to fostering a unique blend of personal development and professional achievement. The genesis of the Won Institute traces back to a visionary moment in 1993 when the third head dharma master Daesan articulated the need for an educational institute in the United States. This aspiration steadily progressed, culminating in the submission of its initial application in 1999 for Won Buddhist Studies. By 2001, the Institute secured its Glenside location, officially opening its doors to eager students in 2002. This foundational period swiftly led to the graduation of its first four students in 2004, marking a significant milestone.

Over the years, the Institute has continuously expanded its academic strengths, meticulously integrating new disciplines to meet evolving holistic health needs. Acupuncture was a vital addition in 2005, followed by Chinese herbal medicine in 2011, enriching its comprehensive offerings. With a focused student body of 92, the Won Institute provides an intimate, supportive environment where students can immerse themselves in rigorous academic pursuits under the leadership of President Rev. Bokin Kim, Ph.D., preparing them for impactful careers in fields that bridge ancient wisdom with modern practice.
