Discover your potential at YCCC, Maine's dynamic public community college!
York County Community College (YCCC) is a vibrant public institution dedicated to helping students "Find the Fearless You." Established by the Maine Legislature, YCCC has grown significantly since its founding, evolving into a cornerstone for education and career development in York County. With a commitment to student success and community engagement, YCCC offers a supportive environment where individuals can explore their passions and build valuable skills for the future.
Originally established in 1994 as York County Technical College (YCTC), the institution quickly made its mark. Opening its doors in 1995 with an initial enrollment of 156 students and a focused offering of three associate degree and two certificate programs, YCTC rapidly earned candidacy accreditation by the end of that same year. This swift recognition set the stage for continuous growth, including moving into a new building in 1997, achieving full accreditation in 1999, and expanding its facilities to meet increasing demand.
In 2003, YCTC embraced a broader vision by officially changing its name to York County Community College, reflecting its comprehensive commitment to both technical training and a wider range of academic pathways. Today, YCCC serves a robust student body of 1,708, maintaining its foundational dedication to providing accessible, high-quality education. The college, now proudly represented by its Hawk mascot, fosters an atmosphere of learning and personal transformation, empowering students to achieve their academic and professional aspirations.
